Christmas Music

12/27/10 Blizzard NYCIsn’t it great how hearing a sweet song can change your outlook?

I heard Rob Thomas’ “New York City Christmas” on my boring drive to the supermarket today and it’s been stuck in my head since. True, some seasonal music is pure cheeseball but I really look forward to Springsteen’s “Santa Claus Is Coming To Town” and Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You.” (You want your heart to melt? http://www.military.com/video/forces/navy/hms-sailors-sing-all-i-want-for-christmas/1313181682001 ) “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen” by Barenaked Ladies with Sarah McLachlan gave a cool twist to an otherwise bland song.

And Mary J. Blige’s  new single “This Christmas” is very pretty.

So here’s the game: Reply in the comments box with the holiday music that most resonates with you. Results on Thursday. That leaves you plenty of time to shake the songs out of your head before next weekend!

  1. Has been a fan of TransSiberian Orchestra for years now. It is just so much an emotional experience with their music, to me.
